BEMAC presents WORLD MUSIC CAFE: Sue Ray & Robbie Miller

BEMAC presents WORLD MUSIC CAFE: Sue Ray & Robbie Miller

BEMAC is hosting a special World Music Café in celebration of NAIDOC Week 2017.

Taking place on Friday, July 7 from 6.30pm at the Queensland Multicultural Centre in Kangaroo Point, BEMAC’S special WORLD MUSIC CAFÉ will feature emerging contemporary Indigenous singer-songwriters Sue Ray and Robbie Miller.

Having spent the past 12 years intricately developing his vocal prowess, Robbie Miller is proving to be a promising and exciting new force on the Australian music scene. Hailed an an insightful and heartfelt lyricist by The Music, Robbie launched onto the scene in 2013 as Triple J Unearthed’s National indigenous Music Awards winner (NIMA) with his song “Don’t Go Walking Away”.

Robbie’s soulful vocals, moving between plummeting, plangent depths and soaring, lupine howls seem to arrest time in a richness of textures, sounds and lyrics.

Sue Ray is a multi-award-winning singer/songwriter from Toowoomba who captivates audiences with her haunting and emotionally charged lyrics. With her smoky, molasses-rich voice, deep, dark, and gorgeously emotive, Sue Ray has notched up a slew of nominations and awards, including QMusic’s Female Artist of the Year, the Queensland Music Awards’ Best Indigenous finalist in the Best Country & Best Regional category, and winner of the 2011 Breakthrough Contemporary Emerging Indigenous Artist Recording Initiative.

With Robbie Miller and Sue Ray’s evocative lyrics, astonishing vocals and authentic performances, BEMAC’s celebratory World Music Café at Queensland Multicultural Centre during NAIDOC Week 2017 will be a deeply moving, intimate experience.

Doors open at 6.30pm, with food (Lama Beans Catering) and drinks available, performances begin just after 7pm!
