Constance on the Edge screening
06 Dec 2016 | Tuesday 6:30pm to 8:00pm
BEMAC is proud to have partnered with 612 ABC Brisbane, the Queensland Government, Access and Queensland Rail to deliver the 2016 Queensland Gives Christmas Appeal to support migrants and refugees as they make a new life in Queensland.
The appeal will run from Monday 21 November to Friday 9 December and by donating a gift, you are helping new Queenslanders create a new life as they leave behind violence and oppression.
To explore the stories of migrants and refugees a special screening of the film Constance on the Edge will be shown at the Queensland Multicultural Centre (102 Main Street, Kangaroo Point) on Tuesday 6 December from 6.30pm to 8.00pm.
Filmed over 10 years, Constance on the Edge is the story of one refugee family’s resettlement in Australia, in the town of Wagga Wagga. It is a deeply honest portrayal of what it takes to build a new life as it follows Constance and her children’s navigation of a new, different culture to find their place in the community.
In this season of goodwill and renewal, the story of Constance and her family are a powerful reminder of the role we all play in building a sense of belonging for everyone.
