BEMAC supports Future D. Fidel’s next cinematic venture through RASN
BEMAC is stoked to be supporting award-winning playwright, screen playwright, actor, director and filmmaker Future D. Fidel’s next creative project.
The Victim is a feature film that tells the story of an African nurse, who after getting a sponsorship to work with one of Australia’s leading pharmaceutical company, struggles to balance her work and family. The daily violence in her home could soon cost her everything she lived to build.
Future D. Fidel was this year, the recipient of the “Best Mainstage Award” at the prestigious Matilda Awards for his powerful theatrical piece Prize Fighter, which he wrote, acted and co-directed.
Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Future D. Fidel lost both his parents and was separated from his siblings in the civil unrest that followed the death of president Mobutu. When civil war struck in 1996, he was forced to flee as an orphan stowaway to Tanzania, where he spent eight years in a refugee camp before being accepted into Australia.
He has been a prolific and respected force in Queensland’s theatre, film and performing arts landscape, and BEMAC is proud to be able to support his journey as a gifted and dynamic creative voice in Queensland’s cultural landscape.
