One of BEMAC’s longest serving artists, Alvin is creative and innovative powerhouse as a musician, composer and arranger.
When a steel drummer asked him, at age 14, whether he would like to have a turn of the steel drum, Alvin’s life changed forever.
He says, “From that day forward, I have been a panman.” He was soon winning major awards, touring internationally, performing hundreds of shows each year, whilst also studying architecture and woodwork.
He moved to Australia where he has grown into a nationally recognised pan player, culminating in a performance at the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony 2018.
Alvin says, “My experiences encouraged continued dedication to my craft. They will continue to expand and, in turn, help me deliver new work and pass my knowledge onto others not only within the steelpan community locally, nationally, and internationally but in the performing arts on the whole.”
Alvin was featured on BEMAC’s recent Outside In series:
HOW TO GET INVOLVED
We love music and art. We believe it has the power to transform lives and communities. It brings people together, dissolves barriers and teleports us into distant lands by leading us into the very soul of culture.
