Celebrated vocalist Samira sings classical and folk songs from Lebanon, Iraq, Palestine and Egypt. Ostoorah’s virtuosic ud, soulful shah kaman (a spike-fiddle with sympathetic strings), intricate riq (Arabic tambourine) go perfectly with Samira’s rich, passionate and nuanced voice.
Samira studied and taught classical Arabic voice at the Lebanese National Higher Conservatory of Music, performed at major festivals across Lebanon, appeared on LBC National TV and was a finalist on the Lebanese talent show Studio el Fan.
Since moving to Queensland in 2016 she has released two albums, performed at Bleach* Festival with her band Ostoorah, recorded a track for a Radio 4EB compilation album,
and converted the band into ‘falafel fans’ with her amazing cooking.
