Pauline is an award-winning singer and songwriter as well as a founder and manager of six piece Gypsy folk band MZAZA. She has received Qld Music Awards for Best Song (world) on two consecutive years. Born in France to French and Sephardic Moroccan parents Pauline Maudy sings in French, English, Ladino, Spanish, Turkish and Bulgarian. A diverse and energetic musician Pauline is also known for collaborations with other artists. In 2013 she toured regional Queensland as part of BEMAC’s Ethno on the Road project and released an EP with rock band Daisie May. Pauline is also a founder of vocal group The Verandah ChiX, an all female ensemble bridging cultural divides and celebrating ancestry through songs in Torres Strait Island and Aboriginal languages (Australian Indigenous Languages) as well as Bislama, PNG, French, and English.
Pauline is an experienced teacher and workshop facilitator. She is a guest lecturer at University of Queensland, has taught French for Alliance Francaise, delivered music and cultural workshops in schools and festivals, and regularly designs and leads community engagement projects.
