Shirin Majd, classical singer, song writer and manager of Sweet Sound Ensemble was born in Tehran, Iran. At age 17 she began studying classical singing and joined the choir of Tehran Symphony orchestra. She performed several concerts as a soloist or with orchestra in prestigious venues such as Vahdat Hall in Tehran and some churches. She has also performed with numerous famous masters in Iran such as Rohani, Rahbari, Loris Tjeknavorian. Going on to study in Armenia with Hasmik Hasagorchian and later attending summer courses at the prestigious Universitat Mozarteum Salzburg, studying with Professor Alessandra Althoff and Barbara Bonney.
In 2010 she went on to study Opera and music at the Johann-Joseph Fux Konservatorium and at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, Austria. In 2011 she performed excerpts from Verdi & Puccini operas at Erfurt Hall and Fux Sal, Graz in Austria and have performed in various venues throughout Iran and Austria. She joined The Queensland Choir and the Brisbane Mahler Chorus. She also performs folklor songs in Farsi, Spanish, Italian, and English. She was awarded planet performance in 2012 from BEMAC for her classical and folk performances around Australia.
Since moving to Australia, she has continued her education in classical singing with Margaret Schindler, and Lisa Gasteen. She attended the Lisa Gasteen National Opera School in 2012. Since then she has completed a Postgraduate Diploma Music in Voice Performance 2014, and a Master of Music in Vocal Pedagogy 2016.
