BEMAC Discover #1 feat. Ethan Enoch

17/04/2023 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Join us on Monday April 17 for BEMAC Discover, an open mic night to celebrate the importance of art, music and creativity in our lives and our community. This space will focus on sharing and testing out new work! We invite artists from all backgrounds and languages to showcase and share! Entry is free… bring your instrument, poem, monologue or dance and sign up to take part in the open mic at the door on arrival!

Each BEMAC Discover will feature guest performances from some incredible artists in our Brisbane community.

This month’s featured artist will be Ethan Enoch, a Noonuccal and Nughi performer raised in Logan City, south of Meanjin. Ethan’s family hails from Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) on Quandamooka country. Ethan is a hip hop artist, poet, and an actor, and has been performing on stage since a young age. Ethan uses his hop and poetry to enact his sovereignty and raise awareness to the struggles of First Nations people in so called Australia, and aims to inspire action and change for all. Ethan released his debut EP in 2022 entitled “Voice”, fully produced by prolific Meanjin Hip-Hop producer, Calski. Ethan is also a part of the hip hop duo “Blak Cadence”, alongside Logan City rep, Trilla-D.

This event will follow BEMAC Discussions: Creating on Stolen Land, the first in a series of free, monthly panel discussions. This conversation will explore what it means to live and work on a land that has been cultivating culture for tens of thousands of years, and how to meaningfully honour our place and responsibility on stolen land: https://www.facebook.com/events/176489705277677
