BEMAC Discover #10 featuring Black Ink

August 19 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Join us on Monday 19 August for BEMAC Discover, an open mic night to celebrate the importance of art, music and creativity in our lives and our community. This space will focus on sharing and testing out new work! We invite artists from all backgrounds and languages to showcase and share! Entry is free… bring your instrument, poem, monologue or dance and sign up to take part in the open mic at the door on arrival!

This month’s featured partner is Black Ink, a collective aimed at centering and highlighting artists from the Black diaspora to network, create art and showcase their talents. A Brisbane-based community, Black Ink is also a bimonthly open mic space created for BIPOC artists to attend and share.

This event will follow BEMAC Discussions: Home and Longing, a free thought-provoking panel discussion about the multifaceted experiences of diaspora, exploring themes of nostalgia, cultural identity, and the search for belonging. Featuring Kata Tominaga, Kuweni Dias Mendis, Liesl Zink, Minney Richani and Prita Tina Yeganeh (Moderator).
