Jon Vea Vea and the CobbleStone Band play beautifully simple music that evokes memories and nostalgia for the listeners. Their original songs and stories present fresh perspectives of major events in Australia’s history, told from an Indigenous perspective. This truth-telling reconciliation concert is courageous, timely, and meaningful. It shows leadership in the face of broad social prejudices, stereotypes and historical biases. This allows healing, deepens understanding of our shared heritage, and promotes a more inclusive society.

Born into a musical family and performing since a very early age, Jon Vea Vea has assembled a family band of his own, with whom he tours and records. The family have cultural connections to the ‘Cobble Cobble’ clan of Warra, Dalby, and western Bunya Mountains, to the ‘Undumbi’ near Glass House Mountains, to the ‘Mununjali’ near the Beaudesert Scenic Rim, and to ‘Nduindui’ in Vanuatu.

Jon Vea Vea has cultivated a career of deeply engaged creativity, exploring issues of identity, and advancing new perspectives of Indigenous self-determination. For this he has received various awards including  the 2021 ‘Heal Country’ Community Person of the Year and the 2016 NAIDOC ‘Songlines’ Group Award.
