BEMAC presents A Cultural Event – Singh’s School of Music

BEMAC is proud to present the 4th annual concert by Singh’s School of Music. Named “A Cultural Event”, the annual concert has become renowned for featuring performances by the next generation of Brisbane’s upcoming Indian Classical musicians, alongside performances by established Indian Classical, fusion and world music musicians.

A Cultural Event 2019 will take place on Saturday, July 6 at QMC and everyone is welcome.

Students who have been developing their skills will have their chance to amaze and enthral, while their gurus will demonstrate what makes them leaders in their fields.

With performances by Groovai, Ozindia, Malar and Arthi Dance Schools, Sahaj Sangeet, Steve Stiller & ensemble and Darshana Hingu School of Dance, A Cultural Event is set to be an exceptional celebration of emerging and established talent.

Delicious Tibetan Food will be available, all ages welcome.

Singh’s School of Music was established by celebrated tabla player and BEMAC artist Ravikesh Singh, in 2003. With locations in Forest Lake, Brisbane and Gold Coast, it has been at the forefront of developing new teaching methods for students to progress into professional music careers.

Fijian born Ravikesh Singh came to Australia when he was 3 years old and started his career at the same age playing dholak (traditional/religious music) in small house concerts with local musicians in Brisbane. Ravikesh’s father supported his music career from a very early age taking the young boy to concerts and music lessons with C Hanuman. By the age of ten, Ravikesh was learning the tabla and percussion instruments with tuition from Sukhvinder Singh, Alpesh Vaitha, Sunil Kumar De and Pt Ishwar Lal Misra.

Ravikesh travelled to Varanasi in India to undergo formal studies in the playing of the Benares Gharana style of tabla. Ravikesh’s musical inspiration comes from his gurus and listening to many different genres of music. He is a versatile musician involved in numerous Indian Classical as well as contemporary fusion projects in Australia and India.

• Free parking is conveniently located at the venue for up to 56 cars.
• Brisbane City Council pay and display parking is also available on Main Street and surrounding streets.
• The street parking is free after 5pm on weekdays and all weekend.

Public Transport From CBD:

By Bus: Catch bus 232 at Edward Street Stop 142 (near Queen Street) to Main Street at Story Bridge East, Stop 6.

By Ferry: Catch a free ferry from Eagle Street Pier Ferry Terminal to Holman Street Ferry Terminal. Walk 307m to 102 Main St, Kangaroo Point. Ferry leaves every 15 minutes.
