Connect with BEMAC:
In 2017, BEMAC is delivering four FREE Professional Development Workshops aimed at providing local artists with opportunities to upskill in various areas of the creative arts industry. These workshops are part of BEMAC’s ongoing efforts to support and nurture multicultural artists residing in Queensland.
BEMAC understands it can be a struggle for artists and creatives to keep up with the ever-changing trends in legislation, technology, marketing tools and tactics that is required today as an independent artist. GET PREP’D has been designed to inform, upskill and assist artists in some of these important areas of arts business and provide them with the neccessary tools and techniques to be efficent, up-to-date and relieve the stress of this sometimes daunting part of the industry.
WORKSHOP 2: GET BUSY
Covering essential topics such as obtaining an ABN, registering for GST, obtaining public liability insurance, artist rate setting and invoicing, our second free workshop in the Get Prep’d Artist Development Program will be facilitated by Trina Massey of QMusic.
Trina Massey is the Program Manager for QMusic. Trina first started working within the music industry by organising small live music events while working for a live music venue. From this beginning, she has worked in multiple aspects of the industry, from booking live music venues, artist management, creating warehouse parties, curating DJ rosters to being a DJ herself.
In November 2012, Trina became a partner in Brisbane independent label Smack Face Records, specifically taking on board Publicity, Marketing and A&R for the up-and-coming label. Through her work within the label, she’s coordinated releases for such artists as Flea (RHCP), The Growlers, The Coathangers, Dot Hacker, The Wands and also helped tour various acts. She strives to introduce progressive and interesting bands into the territory and to create the same transfer of talent into international markets.
