Connect with BEMAC:
NUDO’s second full length production ‘Granted’ addresses the inherent injustice, relentless bureaucracy, heartbreaking separation, and milestones of love and joy threaded throughout the migrant experience. One year on from the long awaited arrival of Artistic Director, Yasim Coronado Veranes’ son Christopher in Australia from Cuba, this work calls out the forces that keep us apart and shares the magic that people create regardless.
The shared stories of immigration from the ensemble weave a patchwork of journeys that lead to a common desire for community, connection and home. ‘Granted’ features an international soundtrack and the company’s unique fusion of cultural, contemporary and urban dance styles and speaks to the very heart of the group’s existence as a vessel for sharing dance, culture and friendship that would not exist without migration.
NUDO (meaning knot in Spanish) is a cultural and contemporary dance company creating atmospherically capturing and culturally grounded movement works. Reflecting the artistic visions of incredible fusion dance artist Yasim Coronado Veranes, NUDO brings together a diverse ensemble of dancers.
As a new company, NUDO are here to change the landscape of contemporary dance in Australia, sharing powerful stories held in the dance lineages and experiences of their artists. NUDO creates compelling new dance that pays homage to deep roots and ancient ties, and is dedicated to developing rigorous, safe and respectful practices for working with cultural and contemporary dance.
