Pasifika Film Fest (PFF) is proud to partner with BEMAC on its return to the Australian film festival circuit in 2018. PFF showcases a variety of Pacific cinematic content, showcasing the diversity of storytelling through the eyes of talented creatives from across Oceania.
This selection of short films raise discussions about life in the Pacific.
Sydney emerging filmmaker Carmen Smith’s film Panguna will debut on the film festival circuit with a personal story that investigates how Veronica (Smith’s mother) navigated her way through conflict with a white Australian husband on one side, a warring village deep in the islands of Papua New Guinea rebelling against a gold and silver mine and her family’s disapproval of
her new found love.
PANGUNA
In the midst of a civil war a woman is torn between her childhood and her future. The strength of her family continues to drive her through all her troubles.

POWER MERI
Power Meri follows Papua New Guinea’s first national women’s Rugby League team, the PNG Orchids, on their journey to the 2017 World Cup in Australia.
These trailblazers must beat not only the sporting competition, but also intense sexism, a lack of funding, and national prejudice to reach their biggest stage yet.
