Celebrate the culmination of the 2018 Creative Fusions Summer School with a gala concert event like no other. Join acclaimed indigenous artist/singer Aunty Ruth Ghee, tabla master Dheeraj Shrestha, guitarist/composer and SAO artistic director Anthony Garcia, pianist/songwriter and composer Tnee Dyer and cellist Eleanor Streatfield and the Creative Fusions participants as they collaborate through a rich program or original compositions, improvisations and arrangements melding rhythms, sounds and styles from across time and culture.
Partnering with BEMAC – Queensland’s most dynamic producer of multicultural arts – CREATIVE FUSIONS 2018 is an opportunity for budding musicians to work with the Sounds Across Oceans collective of internationally renowned teaching artists, led by SAO’s own Artistic Director, Dr. Anthony Garcia.
The annual Sounds Across Oceans SUMMER Music School is a unique music-making program designed to offer participants an opportunity to learn, share and collaborate with outstanding professional musicians. The 5-day CREATIVE FUSION SUMMER school is an ‘out of the box’ musical exploration that helps people unlock their creative potential, develop an appreciation for other cultures and build skills and confidence to express themselves in a safe and supportive environment.
The program brings together young aspiring musicians, world music specialists, innovative jazz and classical musicians with musical forms and sounds from across the globe to create new music.
BEMAC is proud to present the gala performance, showcasing original ideas and compositions developed throughout the week-long learning journey, giving participants the opportunity to perform to family, friends and new audiences.
This event will run from 6pm sharp, QMC bar will be open and bar snacks available, there will be no catering at this event.
