Brisbane City Council’s Art Bites – Africa is a programme of free arts workshops designed for all Brisbane residents to explore the traditions of the African continent and discover their creative abilities. Learn West African drumming, create delicious Eritrean meals or shake your hips to the wild dance of The Congo. These workshops are for everyone. Grab a friend or make new ones while discovering the colourful nations of Africa!
DRUMMING WITH NII ARMAH
Take a heady trip to West Africa exploring the infectious rhythms and hypnotic beats of our favourite drum, the djembe, with popular Ghanaian drummer, Nii Armah. Bring lots of energy and smiles!
Facilitator – NII ARMAH
Ghanaian born Nii Armah, is an accomplished singer, dancer and musician, with a genuine passion for the music and culture of his native country. Well-known for his energy, exuberance and musical talent he has travelled nationally and internationally, performing and teaching African arts and culture. Nii Armah blends traditional and contemporary rhythms from Ghana to create a passionate, memorable and authentic African cultural experience. He has taught drumming to a wide range of people from young children and university students to retirees.
