BEMAC presents EMERGE LIVE

17/11/2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Get swept up in a Spanish fever of song and dance when BEMAC presents EMERGE LIVE at the Queensland Multicultural Centre on Friday, November 17.

The performance will be the climax of a two-day vocal and performance workshop facilitated by internationally established Spanish singer-songwriter Clara Domingo of Culture Train 2017 fame.

Born in Barcelona, to a family deeply entrenched in Catalonian cultural heritage, Clara started her formal music studies at the age of five. Growing up in the south of Spain, Clara’s musical passion burgeoned into an exploration of traditional Spanish music and Flamenco. Clara is renowned for her unique and mesmerizing vocal style, which explores traditional Flamenco and popular Spanish music, interwoven with international influences.

The incredible Alma Salero, comprised of the highly acclaimed Spanish guitarist and composer Andrew Veiversand Clara Domingo will be headlining the performance om Friday night.

Following concert debuts to full houses and standing ovations at Brisbane City Hall and the Woodford and Cygnet Folk Festivals earlier this year, Alma Salero are taking their exploration of the rich history of Spanish music on tour throughout Australia and Europe in 2017/18. From gypsy inspired flamenco to arrangements of the music of Granados and De Falla through to contemporary Spanish music that incorporates hip hop and reggae, Alma Salero invites you into the mesmerising and captivating world of the music of España.

Renowned Flamenco dancer Simone Pope, who is considered among the best in Australia, will also be performing as part of EMERGE LIVE.

Come enjoy an evening of performances by two of Queensland’s most exceptional artists dedicated to Spanish musical traditions, and be among the first to see some of Brisbane’s emerging female vocalists perform live. Who knows? You might just see a star being born.

Tickets are $20 Full price and $15 for concession cardholders.

Doors to the venue open at 6.30pm and the show will begin at 7pm. There is a licensed bar and Vira Lata Food Truck will be on-site, serving up Brazilian deliciousness, so come early, or save your appetite for intermission.
