BEMAC presents World Music Series: Jaaleekaay with special guest Grace Barbé
22 Apr 2016 | Friday 7:30pm to 9:30pm
Jaaleekaay is an extraordinary musical collaboration by Australian guitarist Steve Berry and Gambian leading musicians: Wolof singer Yusupha Ngum and Kora prodigy Amadou Suso, joined by Seychelles islander Grace Barbé and her energetic fusion of tropical island rhythms
Truly masters of their craft, Jaaleekaay’s music dissolves cultural boundaries capturing hearts and minds with their globe-spanning fusion of traditional and contemporary musical backgrounds and influences.
Grace Barbé is already well on the way to becoming the next diva of world music in the tradition of Angelique Kidjo and Miriam Makeba. She’s performed at Australia’s leading music festivals including Byron Bay Bluesfest, WOMADelaide and Woodford plus internationally at SAKIFO and IOMMA (La Reunion), Reggae Donnsa (Mauritius) and Carnivale Internationale de Victoria (Seychelles). Catch Grace Barbé while you can!
