BEMAC presents: World Music Cafe – Sumsum
22 Mar 2014 | Saturday 7:30pm to 9:00pm
Sumsum is a theatrically, vibrant and colourful indie-gypsy-groove band from Israel that creates original folk music bursting with joy, rhythm and passion, enthusing even the most reserved audiences to get up and dance.
Founded by Tai Nickritin, Jeremy Marr’e, Zeav Yaniv and Shlomi Mor; Sumsum’s super high and passionate energy is infectious and representative of the great pulse of Gypsy music. This quality has earned them a well-deserved place in the hearts of audiences worldwide.
Sumsum’s music is an original mix of Gypsy, Eastern Mediterranean and folk that is inspired by the culturally eclectic gypsy clans throughout Israel and the world.
“A Sumsum performance is a rhythmic banquet, both sweeping and intimate, integrating songs in different languages which warm the heart, enthusing even the most reserved audiences to get up & dance.” – The Khan
BEMAC’s World Music Café Series is an eclectic music programme that presents international and national world music artists.
