BEMAC, in association with UQ Pakistani Students Association and SalamFest, are proud to host one of the best Qawwal groups in the world in Brisbane. As featured on PTV & Coke Studio, direct from Karachi – Fareed Ayaz, Abu Muhammad Qawwal and Brothers are coming to the Queensland Multicultural Centre on October 30.
This is your chance to experience the sacred and ancient art of Qawwali for yourself.
Qawwali is a Sufi devotional form, the traditional music works its way to ecstatic peaks with strong voices and percussive handclaps, seeking to transport musicians and audience closer to the divine.
Hailing from a musical traditional and family nearly 1000 years old, Fareed Ayaz, Abu Muhammad Qawwal and Brothers are masters of classical Qawwali Sufi music as well as classical genres such as tarana, thumri, and khayal. Weaving together devotional and secular traditions, Ayaz and brothers have been bringing South Asian spiritual music to international audiences for over 30 years.
