BIJF – Tord Gustavsen Quartet Supported by Berardi, Foran, Karlen
05 Jun 2015 | Friday 7:30pm to 9:00pm
Norwegian pianist Tord Gustavsen has been at the forefront of Scandinavian jazz for more than a decade. He creates reflective, evocative music blending sounds from his Norwegian heritage with hints of cool jazz, blues and gospel themes.
Gustavsen’s quartet with Tore Brunborg on saxophones, Sigurd Hole on acoustic bass, and long-term associate Jarle Vespestad on drums, works to serve the dynamic emotional intensity of Tord’s compositions with elegance and meditative measure.
Kristin Berardi, Sean Foran and Rafael Karlen are all strongly creative musicians, known for their clear personal aesthetic and artistic voice. Highly awarded nationally and internationally as composers and performers their combined experience is formidable.
To commemorate the ANZAC legacy the trio of voice, piano and saxophone premier collaborative new compositions drawing inspiration from the powerful experiences and emotions contained in the correspondence of men & women involved in our military past.
