BEMAC presents World Music Series: Digging Roots
19 Feb 2016 | Friday 7:30pm to 10:00pm
Hailing from Canada, Digging Roots are JUNO award winning indie roots innovators. Husband and wife and first nations team Raven Kanatakta and ShoShona Kish trade lead vocals fluidly going from whispery intimacies to smokey wails.
Firmly inhabiting roots and blues yet with a nomadic wanderlust to explore other musical terrain, their music is an eclectic tapestry of light and dark sound. With sweet harmonies and melodic accompaniments of ukulele, banjo, mellotron and of course Raven’s bombastic resonator guitar, Digging Roots offer something special, that sounds vintage and fresh all at once. They are supported on the night by Western GuGuYelanji songman, Troy Brady and purveyors of reggae, soul, RnB pop CKNU.
This project has been supported by the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body and by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
