Festival of Tibet 30 Jan – 3 Feb 2013
30 Jan - 03 Dec 2012 | Wednesday
“In our struggle for freedom, truth is the only weapon we possess.” – HH the 14th Dalai Lama
Brisbane’s fifth annual Festival of Tibet celebrates the Tibetan way of life, founded on the principles of compassion and non-violence, while addressing issues which continue to threaten the future of Tibet.
In an unprecedented highlight, Ven. Thupten Ngodrup from Nechung Monastery in Dharamsala offers a glimpse into the spirit world of Nechung, Tibet’s State Oracle and principal protector of the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan government in exile.
Over 5 days at Brisbane Powerhouse Festival of Tibet presents a packed program including workshops, forums and exhibitions while evening sessions include a concert series featuring talented world musicians and the Australian premiere of the new documentary film “Olo – The Boy from Tibet”.
Adults and children alike will be enthralled as an exquisite sand mandala slowly takes shape in the hands of mandala master Lama Khedup, culminating in the dissolution ceremony on the final day.
This enduring celebration of Tibetan culture continues to embrace ancient traditions, acknowledge the remarkable resilience of the Tibetan people and raise funds to support Tibetans in exile.
All proceeds from the Festival go to the work of the Tibetan Children’s Village, India.
