Tenzin & Friends are proud to present the first ever Brisbane Himalayan Film Festival, aiming to shed light on the remarkable cultural diversity within the Himalayan region.
The Himalayan Film Festival seeks to provide a deeper understanding of issues and the value of the unique heritage, cultures and way of life in the region and explore the majestic beauty of the Himalayas and the spirit of its rarely seen people; while empowering filmmakers, artists and emerging talent. Showcasing a diverse list of films, the festival will explore themes of compassion, conflict, occupation, love, peace, migration, environmental justice and human rights.
11:30am – Tibet: Murder in the Snow – Q&A with Lobsang Lungtok.
Tibet: Murder in the Snow tells the story of young Tibetans who risk their lives each year to illegally cross the rugged Himalaya Mountains in an attempt to see their spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, or attend school in India.
2:30pm – Bardsongs
Set against a backdrop of war and love, this voyage of discovery through Rajasthan, Mali and Ladakh contains three songs, three stories and myriad timeless wisdom.
6:30pm – Short films and Organic Tibetan Dinner
Enjoy a selection of short films followed by a delicious organic Tibetan dinner.
