Workshop of New Multicultural Action Consciousness
Join Indonesian artist and political activist Iwan Wijono for a 4-hour workshop exploring their performance abilities. People can create peformance actions within their lives and positions in society based on their individual backgrounds. Iwan will guide participants to comprehend performance art as a medium and create a new group performance. He will discuss how participants can use their life as a creative medium and develop their unique qualities.

About Iwan Wijono
Indonesian artist and political activist Iwan Wijono has been the president of contemporary art organisation, Performance Klub since 2003. The collective regularly plays host to international residents in Yogyakarta and runs art programs with a focus on site-specific community social issues. Performance Klub also coordinates the Perfurbance Performance Art Festival which takes place in a different rural location each year, highlighting social, economic, environmental and political issues relevant to the specific community while also exploring their broader global implications.
Iwan Wijono is a member of artists’ group Singapore, TAV (The Artists Village) and an international performance art movement called New World Disorder. He has also created works for festivals in Canada, Cuba, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, Poland and the United States.
As part of his residency at the Judith Wright Centre in November, Iwan Wijono will be joining Brisbane artists Eloise Maree, Daniel Huey and Lucie McIntosh to develop their new work Ten Failed Doomsday Prophecies and the End of the World.
