Inspiring Film Night – YOGA IS
07 Feb 2015 | Saturday 6:30pm to 9:00pm
Inspired Living Events has teamed up with the Yoga and Integrative Medicine Institute (YIMI) to put together these special events to celebrate the power of yoga to transform and heal lives.
The event will start with a free outdoor yoga class in Captain Burke Park from 4.30pm.
After the class we will move to the Queensland Multicultural Centre (5 minutes walk) where you’ll be able to get a delicious organic meal, check out some fantastic local exhibitors (all things yoga!) and connect with like-minded people. The film YOGA IS will start at 6.45pm and be followed by a panel discussion featuring special guest speakers.
ABOUT THE FILM
YOGA IS follows filmmaker Suzanne Bryant as she meets with the most prominent Yoga Gurus and teachers in the west and travels to India to explore the power of this ancient practice.
Along the way she discovers what YOGA IS. This is the story of a woman who thought she had it all …until she lost her beloved mother to cancer. Trying to process and understand her profound grief, Suzanne embarked on a journey and turned to a deeper practice of yoga. Suzanne’s journey led her to India on a spiritual quest to learn more about this powerful ancient practice. She studied yoga and Ayurveda in Kerala, Ashtanga Yoga with Pattabhis Jois and his daughter Saraswati, met with Guru Neem Karoli Baba’s son in Vrindavan to learn about Bhakti yoga and came face to face with a near death experience herself.
Answers to questions such as Love, Truth, Happiness, Purpose, The Now, our Dark and Light , Empowerment, Karma, Enlightenment, Transformation and so much more. What she found was something wonderful: a path that can enable anyone to transform suffering and experience daily peace and happiness.
* Yoga class starts at 4.30pm at Captain Burke Park. QMC Venue doors will open at 5.45pm with food and refreshments available for purchase. Film starts at 6.30pm.
“Yoga is many things to many people, but in its full potential the practice of yoga can provide the means to transform suffering into happiness and Suzanne Bryant’s film YOGA IS shows us this path.”
