BEMAC is proud to be supporting Ipswich-based visual artist Kusiima Daisy’s “I am Every Woman” art project. As an African artist Kusiima is acutely aware of the stigma attached to breast cancer within her community.
“I am Every Woman” will see Kusiima engage other female artists from various cultural backgrounds to participate in the creation of a body of work, which will shine on a light on breast cancer awareness and facilitate deeper understanding of the disease and encourage women to seek help.
“As African women we would like this to help our communities as it is something rarely talked about,” Kusiima said.
The artist is passionate about creating art that speaks for women from diverse cultural backgrounds, and articulates their strength and resilience.
