For Tsoof Baras, it’s a question that has shaped his life and inspired Chameleon.
Drawing on his own migration journey, Tsoof has created a powerful contemporary ballet exploring identity, family and belonging. Through dance and an original score, Chameleon tells a personal story about finding home while holding onto who you are.
Presented as part of SSI Homelands, Chameleon reflects SSI’s commitment to connecting artists from refugee and migrant backgrounds with mainstream arts venues and audiences across Australia.
When refugee and migrant artists perform on Australia’s most iconic stages, it is more than a performance. It is a statement about who belongs in Australia’s cultural story. That’s why this year’s performance at the Sydney Opera House is so significant. Partnerships like this create greater recognition for artists and the communities they represent, while setting a new standard for inclusion and excellence in the arts.
Through Chameleon, audiences are invited to connect with the lived experiences of migrants and refugees and discover that the search for home is something we all share.
