Three opportunities for artists to present work in the second half of 2025: shows in the BEMAC Unplugged series, a special collaboration for Melt Festival 25 and World of Cultures Logan 2025.

The invitation is open to individuals, bands, collectives, community groups and non-profit organisations.

In this call out, proposals are being accepted for three distinct programs:

You can submit proposals to all streams.

BEMAC Unplugged

BEMAC Unplugged, a series of low-key shows that will showcase diverse talent and invite cross-cultural collaboration, in an intimate setting that aims to recreate the vibe of BEMAC’s shows at Yungaba. These will take place at venues in South-East Queensland, in a relaxed format with minimal technical resources.

Proposals need to demonstrate a clear, original concept and respond to at least one of our programming principles (see below), and a high level of artistic practice and a commitment to representing diverse voices, cultural identities and expressions.

A special collaboration for Melt Festival 25

We are seeking proposals from artists with an idea for a collaborative performance project that fits with Melt Festival remit of being a city-wide festival that aims to foster inclusivity, provoke thought and celebrate LGBTQIA+ communities and artists. The selected artist(s) will then be part of a separate selection process to identify a suitable collaborator, based in the Ipswich region. Together, the collaborating artists will receive support from Ipswich Civic Centre through the Hatchery 4305 AiR creative development program which includes up to 6 weeks of development space at no cost, with flexible hours, around existent bookings in the Fire Station 101 Main Space, Workshop Room and Office, up to 12 hours of free technical support (lighting or sound) and a potential $2000 financial support for creative development through RADF Time and Space grant. The collaboration will conclude with public outcomes during Melt Festival (22 October to 9 November, 2025).

Proposals need to demonstrate a clear, original concept and respond to at least one of our programming principles (see below), a high level of artistic practice and a commitment to representing diverse voices, cultural identities and expressions. In addition, proposals will need to show alignment with Melt Festival’s aims of fostering inclusivity, provoking thought and celebrating LGBTQIA+ communities and artists.

Three programming principles underpin BEMAC’s Artistic Program:

  • Courageous in creativity – We aim to support artists at all career and development stages, whose creative and professional aspirations are solidly grounded on the creation of original work of the highest quality and relevance possible.
  • Determined in diversity – We aim to ensure that diverse stories, voices and expressions are duly represented and that they are embraced and welcomed into a platform of creativity, conversation and cross-pollination.
  • Enablers of change – We aim to drive positive social change towards the elimination of racism, discrimination and exclusion by fostering self-determination and cultural safety with the agency to freely express.
