Connect with BEMAC:
We invite you to join us at the official opening of the first BEMAC ILLUMINATE visual arts exhibition of 2019, “Here and There”.
Taking place on Friday, February 15 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, guests will be able to meet the exhibiting artists.
Entry is free, but registration is essential (for catering purposes).
Curated by Liam Herne, “Here and There” is an exhibition featuring work by artists who are based in Australia but are originally from or have strong ties to another country. Each artist in the exhibition was asked to respond to life in Australia and Australian culture and how their perceptions of these things are influenced by having links to somewhere else.
“Here and There” brings together the work of Karen Bessell, Anne Collin, Adele Grobler Dellit, Liam Herne, Martina Latimer, Yukari Nagaki, Thilini Nuske, Ruby Purple, Elysha Rei, Mandy Schone Salter and Camila Sofia Duran Espinosa.
The exhibition features artworks made with a range of media including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, paper cutting and textiles and will run from January 17 to March 9, 2019 in the Queensland Multicultural Centre.
