For NUDO’s second full-length production, Artistic Director Yasim Coronado Veranes and the ensemble weave a patchwork of journeys that probe the inherent injustice, relentless bureaucracy and heartbreaking separation, and celebrate the milestones of love and joy threaded throughout the migrant experience.
An aurally and visually stunning journey through the diversity of percussion and its ubiquity across global musical cultures, featuring Rebecca Lloyd-Jones (QLD Conservatorium), Tanja Hafenstein (Alex Lloyd & Tulipan), Dave Kemp (Lion King Musical), Tsoof Baras (Soundstruck), Zach Brankovich (Queensland Symphony Orchestra) and the Queensland Conservatorium Ba Da Boom Percussion Ensemble.
Inspired by the 90s 'Def Poetry Jam', Producer and MC Mel Ree curates a night of survival, healing, growth, change and REVOLUTION featuring Andrew Cox, Huda the Goddess and Ethan Enoch. The program is an invitation to connect to each other so profoundly that suddenly, amidst such chaotic times, harmony seems possible again.
Anis, a visual and public artist with an extensive trajectory in her home country Chile, visits Brisbane in late March to take part in a microresidency with BEMAC (March 23 to 29) comprising workshops, talks and an exhibition at the Queensland Multicultural Centre.
A sublime encounter of two award-winning ensembles; Matt Hsu’s Obscure Orchestra, who make otherworldly music that celebrates difference and the liminal spaces between cultures, and Zy The Way, who are ushering in a fresh musical movement from the heart of Asia.
